Listen to the City’s Obscured Sounds
Amid the bustling rhythm of the city, we are often unaware of the sounds around us. Let these muffled, overlapping audio layers unfold in your ears.
From the waterfront promenade to industrial spaces and shopping malls, artist Kalun Ho has built an urban sound archive of field recordings from across Hong Kong, enriching our "ways of hearing". In today’s visually driven world, he invites us to tune in and experience the city’s rich, diverse soundscapes.
This Obscured Sound exhibition focuses on the subtle sounds of East Kowloon. Through a binaural interactive sound installation, visitors can immerse themselves in a 3D spatial soundscape of the city’s distinctive rhythms and tones. We hope listening can become a means of revealing the hidden social contextsocio-cultural networks woven into everyday life, inviting a fresh perspective on Hong Kong.
Before exhibiting my interactive installation, 'Obscured Sounds,' we will create a prototype for thorough testing. This ensures the installation functions smoothly and delivers the best possible experience to the audience.
